Our college ministry, Solid Rock, is led by Daniel Gent, our Director of College Ministries here at AFBC. Solid Rock is made up mostly of students from Humboldt State University and College of the Redwoods. Every Thursday evening our college/career students get together up in the Lighthouse Room to enjoy a time of feasting on some good home cooked food, fellowship, worship and a time of interactive study in God’s Word. During the school year they also have “Breakfast for a Buck” before church on Sunday mornings, and a game/activities night on Monday’s, up in our Faith Adventure building, which has a beautiful, state of the art gymnasium and great fellowship rooms which feature couches, café styled booths, tv’s, a pool table, bumper pool, air hockey and a foosball table.
Outings to the beach, Eel River and Mad River, are also a staple in the life of our College group. In addition, the College ministry has a long history of sending people out into the mission field for both short and long-term missions. An annual College retreat is hosted every SPRING and FALL by Solid Rock as well. Weekly Bible studies on the campuses of HSU and College of the Redwoods, along with prayer walking and outreach to Arcata Plaza and Arts Alive in Eureka are also a staple in the life of our College ministry.
